Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Yang-Duan Su

Dr. Su is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Ohodnicki Lab and was the first student to join the group. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan and an M.S. in Energy Science, Technology and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, and completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh with a thesis entitled “Optical Sensitization of Functional Thin Films as Fiber Optic Sensors for Gas and Temperature Monitoring in Electrical Assets.” His research covers plasmonic nanocomposite thin-film based fiber optic sensors and their integration into electrical assets including transformers and battery systems. He is a co-recipient of 2023 and 2026 R&D 100 Awards.
